Dwayne Duncan
Degree: Master of Science in Hospitality Management
College/School: Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management
Dwayne Duncan has excelled in several areas.
He excelled academically, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA in his graduate hospitality management degree, which he completed in three semesters. He has done his share of community service, including organizing a food drive to Dominica after Hurricane Maria. And he serves as a lieutenant in the Trinidad and Tobago military.
But Dwayne describes himself as a bit different. His recognition as a Worlds Ahead graduate is worlds apart from his origins.
Coming from a broken home, Dwayne had to learn to survive on his own from a young age with limited access to regular meals or running water. He experienced what it was like to have electricity in his home for the first time in 2009 when he was 23 years old.
Dwayne is proud to set an example for his two-year-old son by earning his master’s degree in hospitality management and returning home to manage food and beverage operations for the entire Trinidad and Tobago army.
Although food and beverage might be Dwayne’s love, his true passion goes beyond the business of hospitality. After completing his military service in five years, he plans to work in academia, helping and mentoring others.
